Bow carrier on motorcycle?
« on: February 28, 2008, 09:35:00 PM »
Does anyone carry their bow on a motorcycle? A special bow holder maybe? If so can you post some pics? Thank you.

I have a GoldWing and I pull a trailer. Works real nice when I'm traveling around fly fishing.

I rode my XR 250L dual sport to the Great Lakes Longbow Invitational. All my bows are 3pc takedowns so I carry them disassembled in a takedown case and I carry my arrows in a homemade tube style back quiver like a simmons. I just strap everything down on the back.

I don't have any pics but I wrapped a piece of pvc with leather. Added some loops and strap it to the saddlebag and luggage rack.  My longbow sticks straight up (unstrung).
Only problem I have is hauling the arrows. I tried them in a back quiver but the wind kept pulling them out.

Not sure if you are talking dirt or street but like oldskool I have a goldwing, but, I do not have a trailer yet. So, I went and got a couple of nice take down bows. Made a case that ties onto the luggage rack on the trunk real nice. I do like the way Ron has his set up but not sure how that would work when putting on a couple of thousand miles.

When I was a kid I ran my Bridgestone 90 out to the Rock Sioux, even when it was cold.  I bungied it across the seat, it lightened up the weight on the rear tire. With  a long bow I padded the luggage rack and tied the bow to that and my waist, wearing my hip quiver in the middle of my back.

I ride an '03 HD Roadking...I use my black plastic arrow box, and get the allen wrench out, take the bow down, put it in the bottom of the arrow box, half a dozen arrows in the lid, tarp strap it to the luggage rack, and head down the road!!!  Works pretty good...rode in heavy rain, and down the interstate, no problems!!!

I put my longbow in a cloth case in a three-inch PVC pipe.  Slip some arrows in as well.  Rubberband the lower part of the case to the passenger foot peg, and bungie it in the middle to my Sissy bar.  Stays put.  Harley Softail Heritage Classic.

My bike came with a built in bow holster. It also fits a Thompson Submachinegun.

I don't have a bike, but if you are looking for a cool way to carry your stuff to and from the range, check out Aurora's City Pack bow case. Seems like a good idea to me.

Ron -

Very nice Heritage. Come down to Texas and Ride the Border with me in June. Gonna ride all the way around Texas in 9 days. Should be just under 4,000 miles.

Thanks guys. I have an XL1200c sportster. There looks to be some good ideas here. But then again I expected no less from you all! Nice bikes.
