Samick limbs, black glass or black paint.

I recently built a take-down using Samick Sage limbs and after some light sanding on the glass the color began to come off. The limbs had a nice satin finish that appears to be painted on. Anyone else have this problem?

Sounds about right in my little experience.  I have a new Samick Sage and put a small scratch on it and it looks a lot like paint.

Skin it, that'll teach the paint to come off.

I do love snake skins but I've got a tough time putting $70 skins on $70 limbs. Just my .02c.

new poster, I have been playing around with this stuff for a long time...Samick limbs for 70 bucks plus shipping seem like a super good deal to me...I bought two pairs and am very happy with them.

alternatives
...1/2" sheet of D Fir plywood to build a form...40 bucks
...various clamps, pins and metal and rubber strips...maybe 100 bucks
...epon or smooth on epoxy kit...40 bucks
lets just say you already have a bench sander and all the other tools needed to do all the work...and labor is free...

that can of Krylon looks a pretty good deal to me!LOL...

they seem like a God send for the DIY guy ...at least a good place to start at...they make some fancier limbs too...but are more $$. but for someone on a budget who wants to kill a deer or Elk with a bow they made themself...they are pretty hard to beat...

after a few thousand shots with me they are fine...the design actually reminds me of the old school Border bows from a long time ago??

 I also thought a pair of 70 dollar skins was sort of nutty until I read the post about doubling the value...I like the way you think!

I have a template made up...I will get that number to you later ...it is critical...

the samick stock bows use a much longer than what might be considered normal riser length...

on my 17&1/2" risers the limbs make for a 55" bow...not AMO, but actual length...but strung tip to tip...that is with their 62" limbs...

I use a 7&7/8"-8" brace too...

this bow shoots really well with my draw of 26 & 1/2" ...its not what I would call  full on 3-D bow...but for 15-25 yard shots bowhunting...I am very happy...t

What kind of wood is the riser? is that an antler or bone overlay?

shedua riser...an 8/4 X 5 piece for the blank.

accents are elk and mule deer antler...knobs are from white tail sheds...
