I have used Bohning cresting paints on top of polycrylic. Seems to have worked. Haven't tried it the other way around though, i.e., dipping in polycrylic after cresting.

I use the Testors Model Master paint to crest with and use the Poly clear over it. I use the wipe on for the shaft but spray over the cresting. I found the wipe on will smear the cresting occasionally.

I just did some. Minwax stain. Polycrylic exterior.Being a painter I always prime. I used testors acrylic on one batch and regular folk art acrylics on a second batch. There are more colors to choose from with the folk art brand of acrylics. To finish I dip tubed 2 more coats of exterior polycrylic steel wooling between coats. I'm partial to satin finish. Arrows came out beautiful.Fletching right now with duco.
