I've heard if you lay the limb on a wooden block as a backing, then the glass doesn't splinter out? But I've never built glass bows... I can see where it would be tricky drilling thin glass though.

beachbowhunter....what if you were to grind through the glass instead of drill?  Like a with a pointed stone wood shaping bit (like say for a dremmel) in the drill press?  Grind through the glass then switch to a bit to drill the rest of the way through the limb?   Well,  just a thought.....
The grip on that bow looks comfy btw!  Great job, once again!

Roy, I did use wood on the back and clamped down but fiberglass is pretty sketchy. I even bought some different bits. I guess it is just practice.

Eric, I use a stone bit to chamfer the holes after drilling and it does pretty well at cleaning them up.  Yeah, the grip really sucks your hand in. I went a little nuts on the palm swell and bulging out the site window and thumb rest.  Thanks!

Its a looker!! Narraganset eh Can't get any father away without swimming
When I used to make 3 piece bows I found a sharp brad point bit and a drill press on low speed minimized the splintering

Norb,

That is a great looking bow.  You will have to bring it over so we can measure the draw weight.  And we can plan the next ones.

What did you pattern the riser from?  If you'd have told me it was an ACS riser I'd have believed you!  Beautiful bow!

NBK you are pretty observant. I had the ACS in mind but was really going for a look like the new Striker fastback. Kind of a combo of those two.
