bear whitetail hybrid

I have been wanting to make a recurve for a while.. I like the old bear whitetail compounds, and was thinking about buying one, removing the limbs and them making some to fit. So i have a takedown recurve or longbow. Would this work, and has any one ever done anything like this?

I am sure that someone with more knowledge will come along shortly but in my opinion it should work. People do this all of the time to old compounds by "warfing" them, making them ILF compatible. Others just bolt on samick sage limbs and have had success. The most important thing to look at is limb pad angle and the whitetail seems to pass in that category. Go for it and post the final product, you should end up with a great shooting bow.

X2. Limb pad angle is the big thing but you can always shim the limb pad to get where you need to be. Probably easier with sage limbs than ilf.

the old 4 wheelers or the "newer"2 wheelers?
I have kicked around warfing the older model--but the newer whitetail II would be easier--and probably make a fine recurve!!

The reason I think it work is because Martin Archery actually did that with the Jaguar.  They put recurve limbs on an old compound riser.
