Looking For Good Bowyer Technical Resource
« on: December 19, 2013, 11:29:00 PM »
Hi guys. I'm interested in using SuperTiller to come up with some of my own limb profiles but I'm fairly new to bow making and need a good technical foundation on what makes a bow "smooth", "fast", etc. In other words, what design parameters affect various performance parameters and what are the desirable traits of a well designed bow. Anyone know of a good read on the subject?

Thanks,
Charles

"Traditional Bowyer, More Unnecessary Fun" by Jack Harrison is a good read with lots of theory about how a bow works.

Thanks guys but just noticed this book is $175 used from Amazon. Wow!!! Is it worth the high cost? Is there a less expensive alternative?

You can find it cheaper.  Much cheaper.  And yes, it is well worth it.

Thanks Bob, I just ordered my copy from Kustom King for $58 + S&H. Way better than $175 used!
