Tri color flemish string..?
« on: January 09, 2014, 05:07:00 PM »
Ok, I usually do my simple, 14 strand,Flemish strings with two colors of thread but I am wondering if a three strand/color string might not be an interesting way to go ? I'm thinking a 15 strand string, 5 per bundle, then just twisting it up in the usual way.
Anyone else do this..?

Yup, or you could make one bundle 4 strands and two bundles 5 strands.

The light colors show better if you use more of them. Like 4-brown, 5-white, 5-yellow

Yep.  I just made my first 3 color/bundle a couple weeks ago.  Turned out nice.  It's a littler tougher twisting 3 bundles compared to two, but the process is the same.

Ive made 3 bundle/color strings befre but have gone to just mixing color in two bundles...ie 3red+4purple in one bundle and 3yellow+4purple in the other for 14 strand string. Looks the same from five feet and easy to twist...........sometimes use just one strand of different color per bundle for accent and have also made a few "rainbow" strings that look pretty good too. Usually pick the colors to match wood colors...........
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!
