how to proceed?

almost ready for the long string on this one. but i got a troublesome spot that im not sure what to do with.  its a drying check that runs off the edge.  if it were tillered i would just wrap it and glue it and call it good. but im not sure how to proceed besides just hoping it don't blow.  any suggestions?  its 69" tip to tip and only going to be about 50# right now its 1 3/8" wide for half the limb length.

Eric did you get any solutions? All I can think up is rawhide and crazy glue.

i have been avoiding throwing in my 2 cents worth- in fear that some expert bowyer will laugh me off the continent.
if you want to back it- as scars suggests. then thin ca glue, and deer rawhide, going on the back and right around the sides, right up to the belly- have seen that done befor- and it looks kinds cool- doesnt hamper your tillering.

but if you didnt want to back it, thin ca again and wrap it, tiller to a point leaving that area obviously stiffer- but dont go too far, so that you dont hinge it, cut off the wrap, and thin the area to match either side. then re wrap and start all over again- you wouldnt have to cut the wrap everytime you check tiller- but certinally before it gets any where near hinging.

then a nice wrap when you are done!!

i have done this before on a bow , when i didnt have the backing or the knowledge how to back.
it is more tedious but does work.
but if it were me, today- i would do as scars says!

That's a bad one... any time it runs off the limb... yikes. If I decided to try to save it, I would fill with thin viscocity ca, then sinew back it. I trust sinew considerably more than rawhide... especially for something as serious as this.

Another option might be to cut off that limb, scrap it, and z-splice another one on at the handle.

I had enough meat to completely remove it.  Took a chisel and split it off.  Came out right at that pin knot.  Still got plenty of wood left.
