binghams high temp tape

Binghamton high temperature tape sells for about $10 and I used it for the first time today. in my opinion it is well worth the money it's the first time I've taken tape off probably in under a minute or minute and a half if you've been having trouble like I have removing the tape from a fresh bow out of the oven you want to give it a try.     Joe

I've used the high temp tape. I'm not convinced it's needed. Nowadays I use the cheap dept. store masking tape. It comes off just fine. If for some reason it acts like it's really overly stuck, which hasn't happened in several years, I just chase it off with my heat gun.

If you clean the outside of your fiberglass with Lacquer thinner before you put the tape on, it's hard to get off.

Like bowjunkie I use 8 day masking tape, never had the slightest drama.

I use 3M industrial production tape from Lowes, works fine for me and cheap.

I've mentioned this before and I'm guessing everyone must be afraid because I never get a comment back.

I buy the cheapest tape I can get. I buy it by the case and may tape up a 100 pieces of glass at a time. Some I won't get back to for a couple months or so.
Oh yeah, it gets stuck down hard sometimes, but I just take a 1" chissel and lay the flat side down and get started...peel when possible and shave it off when it won't peel.
1000 plus bows this way and never a problem. Just be careful and take your time until you get the hang of it. i always work from riser out so as not to pick up a sliver off of the cut edge of the limb.
i expect It takes me 30 to 45 seconds to remove tape.

Ive noticed the longer you leave the tape on after you bake it the harder it is to get off.
I use a razor blade like Jim uses a chissel.

I did a couple bows at Jim's when I was down there and it works just like he says . Scares you at first but really works well.

glad this was brought up , i have binghams tape. but i have been wondering what every one else uses.like bowjunkie i wasnt so convinced.in the back of my mind im thinking "heat tape"? really? whats the difference? now i know what others use ,and when this roll is gone  cheap stuff it is.

I use blue painters tape and never have any problems.
