adhesive for longbow shelf rest
« on: March 20, 2014, 05:37:00 PM »
I have to replace my sons leather shelf arrow rest, any ideas on an adhesive to use? I see three rivers recommends Barge cement but I need to find an adhesive that I can find locally? I need an adhesive that can be removed when the rest has to be replaced at some point?
Thanks,

Tim

I have started using permanent double sided scotch tape made by 3m. It is clear and super thin. It holds very well....as long as it doesn't get oily and it comes off clean. It works very well for grips too.

I too use the super sticky double sided 3m tape. Have used it for over a decade. It doesn't get any easier than that... never comes loose, rain or shine, yet rolls right off with your thumb pressure if it needs removed. I found something just like it by another brand in he flooring section of Lowes.

I use Velcro with the adhesive back on my glass bows.  Peel and stick it on, haven't found anything easier or faster.

On the selfbows, for leather grips, rests and side plates, it's either barge cement or carpet contact cement.  I prefer the contact cement, it's available at any hardware store and only needs replaced every dozen years or so; The last quart lasted 15 years.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
