ULS glass has fibers running across the glass (scrim) it is intended to help reduce the cracking that sometimes happens at the limb bolt holes.  The ul glass does not have the scrim and is said to be a bit more transparent when clear glass is used. I use UL in clear and ULS in colored.

uls has scrim, which is fibers moving perpendicular to the E.  It possibly helps with torsional stability, but can be seen when using clear uls glass, which is often undesirable. I use ULS for anything that isn't clear, and UL for clear.

edit: ^haha, beat me to it!
