Fake skins from 3Rivers?
« on: April 27, 2014, 07:24:00 AM »
Anyone use the copperhead paper skins from 3R for decoration backing on selfbows?

What's your opinion on the final look and feel?

To be honest, they look fake.

Haven't used the copperhead but I've done a couple of glass bows with the diamond back....can't tell the difference between them and real unless you have the bow in hand.....IMHO...

It doesn't look bad once you get a clear finish over it,but the diamondback looks better. The diamondback is difficult to tell from the real thing unless it is in hand. The copperhead is distinguishable from a couple feet away. Had it on an ash self bow that my wife used to carry at ren faires and she got lots of compliments on it.

I've used both on bows and cant find any finish that lifts them above flat and dull, just a pass mark IMO.
