I have been using trail cams for over 12 years. I currently operate 7 or 8 cameras. I even have three out that I built myself. For the money the I40 Moultrie is an awesome camera. It is a 4.0 mega pixel digital cam unit with an infrared flash. It has memory storage on an SD card. It operates on D cell batteries. I had one set last from August until December! It took over 4000 pictures!! The software is also upgradeable on this unit. I saw one in a store the other day for $189.

Widowbender , I have 2 Cuddeback No Flashes..I work around the two major problems of dropping batteries and menu chaos..How do you rate the +s and -s between Cuddeback No Flash and I40 Moutrie? thanks

I own 5 cuddebacks and love them! i personally wont buy the I.R. model again because my flash style cameras work better. i have owned all the other types, camtracker, moultier, stealth cam and the cudde is the best! its almost as fun as hunting!

I have no experience with the Cuddeback No Flash.
The reviews I read on it weren't that good and the price was in the range of what I can build a better camera for. I got the Moultrie I40 as part of a store credit. I wasn't really looking to get another "store bought" camera. It turned out to be one of my favorites. The only things I don't like about it is the size and you will have to get/make a security bracket for it.

We have had a ton of problems with the Bushnell's leaking water into them. Moultrie flash models have worked real well but up here by November the cold wipes the batteries at about one set per week.

The moultrie D40 and I40(infared) are good cams for the money.IMHO this guy makes the best cam if money is not an issue.

That's the same type of cameras that I have built. There are some great internet resources for building them. I would say I could do a build along on one of those (I have enough parts laying around to build another one) but I don't think that exactly fits the intent of the forums here.

Joe, I've ben using two Cuddeback no flash models ever since they came out and have no complaints. Retail was around $400 but IMO worth it when i think of all the money i wasted over the years (not to mention the missed shots) while using Moultries, Stealthcams and Wildviews (the WVs weren't too bad considering the low cost and i still use three of them in certain situations: i.e.: areas where i don't feel good about leaving my Cuddes)
