Kenny just linked these to me. This is awesome stuff. Thanks Kenny and Ben.

I do have one question about these drawings. When I open them I am having a hard time figuring out what scale they should be printed at. 100% is far too small, and there is no scale marker on the drawing.

When I try to scale it up it get 12" from center to start of taper I end up at 130%, but then the measurement from the start of the taper to the nock does not add up.

What scale are you guys using to get it to the actual dimensions? I think this would be need to get a shop to print it.

I wonder if a scale could be added to the drawing to help aid with this?

Thanks a lot for the work put into this.

Dave

Archer, I was having the same problem.  Taking stock of my tools at hand, this I what I did.

First, I printed Kenny's PDF.  Then scanned it to a jpg at the highest RES my antique technology would allow (600 dpi).  Next, into a photo editor and cropped each of the four main elements into separate jpg's.  Then into my old school publishing software in the "banner" mode where size was adjusted by the scale in the software.  Print and tape.  Viola!  Full size drawings.

Your scale is based on the listed size of the elements, eg., 18" riser, etc.

Links worked OK for me.

File seems to be about full size when I open it in Adobe Illustrator.

If you were to take the file to a local sign shop or anywhere with a large format printer - maybe even Staples - you could likely get a full size print for a template at a price that won't kill you.

I'm fortunate in this regard - I'm in the sign business and have 2 64in wide printer/plotters to play with.

FYI.  To plot it at full scale you need to print it at 24"x42"

Yes the files should be full size. And yes they need to be printed on a large plotter in order to be the right scale.

Kenny/All,

What would I loose if I made a 58" bow off your 62"/ 64" form?

I have the plans for your 58"/60" but haven't made a form yet.

Thanks in advance

IMO you would lose enough reflex in the limb tips to make it a dog. Just opinion tho, never done it.

Also would lose preload of limbs at brace, which would make the bow tend to be noisy and vibrate. The string needs to be pretty tight after the shot goes off.

Kenny,

I know this thread is old, but do you have pics of a completed bow from this plan?

Thanks!
