Should i be concerned with the integrity of the back or only cosmetic? First picture is with rind scraped off and second pic is raw.

Looks like a water stain. Only cosmetic. I see it all the time building bamboo fly rods.

no its not a stain... its where the rind was dinged up. you can feel a depression when you run your finger over it.

The rind got peeled off, no biggie. Ifin yer skeered to use it, send it to the ole man in Pa..

In the first picture, there is no rind. It has been removed below the node. I see what could be 2 bruised spots.

Jeff yes i scraped the rind off there.. the bruised spots looked like the bottom picture before scraping. Roy i aint skeered. almost ready for a low brace.
