marble dip
« on: March 03, 2008, 10:37:00 AM »
I started to marble dip my shafts. I love the look but want to put a finish over the dip. I'm using testers paint for the marble part. They said to use clear arrylic over their emamel but it still bleeds/eats the paint. Anyone have any suggestions? I'll try to get some pics up later still getting the process refined.

Bill:
Call Jim Rebuck at J&M archery, he uses a marble finish all the time, he's in Pa somewhere.

Use "Wipe-On Poly" ...water based

aromakr I talked with him at the PA outdoor show and wasn't impressed with his people skills. His video was pretty good but didn't say anything about finish.
montauks I used spray on waterbased poly and it bled to. I was thinking that there may be something in the propellents that causing the trouble.

J&M makes a very nice arrow. His marble finsh is quite nice. I'm sure you should not take it personal that his people skills were not the best.
You are asking him for his secret sauce so to say.

How log did you let the paint dry before applying the clear?
Over thinning the paint it will not cover and too much it maynot dry properly

Testors Phone# 1800 962-6654. If you tell them your specifics, they are quite friendly to talk to.
