Antler Overlays on a Radius Surface - HELP !!!

Can anyone provide some guidance on doing antler overlays on a radius surface like the back side of a riser or inside curve of belly side of riser?

I've done antler overlays before but only on a flat surface.

I've not done antler but I've done wood tip overlays where the back of the tip wasn't perfectly flat.  I took a piece of sandpaper and laid it on the back of the bow, with the grit side up, and rubbed the overlay piece along it to sand it down to the shape of the wood underneath.  If that makes sense!  It takes some time but matches up pretty well.

What I'm talking about is more radical than that.  I'm referring to a larger piece of antler spread over 4-6" on the back side of the riser  which has curves in it.

Make a sanding block by wrapping the riser with clingwrap, and then coating the side you are going overlay with a good thick coat of BONDO.

Let the BONDO harden, then use some 80 grit sandpaper to "radius" your antler overlay, by using the BONDO sanding block.

I made this overlay out of a piece of moose amtler.(the spoon part) I cut the piece about 1-1/2" wide then halved it very carfully with my bandsaw. This gave me two surfaces I could use. Then I sanded the core of the antler until almost all that was left was the outer side. It was 1-1/16" or thinner. It would actually bend to conform to the back of the riser. I glued it on with smooth-on then feathered the edges.
