Finished my new hunting bow for this year
« on: August 06, 2014, 08:43:00 PM »
I just got through building my new bow and thought I would see what you guys think. It has a Wenge riser wiser with Maple, Bolivian Rosewood, and Purpleheart accents. The limbs are Bocote with a Camphor Burl overlay on the back. It came out at 54# @ 28" and a 62" AMO length. The corewood is Actionboo with a strip of Carbon in it. Oh and for trying something new I put an Arrowhead inlay of Turquoise. I sure hope to get this bow bloody on my McAlester hunt in November.

Tom, that is a truly beautiful bow! I have a friend that inlays turquoise in vases and bowls he turns on his wood lathe.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Bill that's where I got the idea for the inlay. I was watching some woodworking video's on youtube and saw a video of someone doing an inlay on the side of a bowl and it gave me the idea to try this to see how it would turn out.

Very nice work!

Good lookin' bow, Tommy! I'm sorry I missed ya at the shoot last weekend. I would've liked to have seen one of your bows in person.

That's alright I didn't get to make it up to the shoot. Work has been really stressful lately and just didn't feel like making the drive up there. Hollar at me sometime and we can see if we can find some of those public land hogs sometime.
