So I had an epiphany last night. I was thinking about making up some flu flus for tree rats and bunnies and such, but the only shafts I have left are some 40/45 cedars. So this random idea popped into my head and I'm wondering if it'd work or not.
I'm thinking about wrapping either cotton or silk thread around the entire length of shaft then finishing over the top of that to seal and secure it. Will this stiffen the spine enough to make a difference? Or will it be a waste of time?
The idea came to me while I was thinking about some of my dad's old arrows. The entire shaft was painted yellow with green fletching, and they looked like they were wrapped with a thin thread over thier entire length. I'm not sure if it was really wrapped or if it was just from turning the shaft, but it gave me the idea and I was wondering if anyone has tried wrapping or if anyone has heard of it before.
