Aspiring Bowyer
« on: September 09, 2014, 10:42:00 AM »
Hello, I'm new here. I've been looking forward to learning the art of the bowyer for several year's now and finally have the time and resources to move forward.

One of my first questions involves epoxy choice for laminated limbs and risers. Which brands and mixes have proven themselves? I've heard of West Systems 635? Is this an option? What's worked for you? Thank you.

Smooth-on is the standard for bow building. Never had a problem using it.

EA40 is the one I was thinking of. A local bowyer, John Holzrichter, uses it. The West System I had confused fron another application. Thank you everyone. I'm really looking forward to being a part of this helpful group.

Smooth On is easy to use never given me any issues with my bows and I have completed about 45 bows so far.
