bow glue

Has anyone ever used Dap Weldwood plastic resin glue for making all wood bows. I know unibond 800 is a plastic resin glue also and advertises it is used for bows and musical instruments. I would have to order Unibond, but can get Weldwood locally. Both are urea formaldehyde.

I've used it on backed bows, adding risers and overlays, all with good results and never had a failure. I don't know why it's not used more.

Weld wood plastic resin has been discontinued from manufacture for several years. It has a shelf life of one year. Any available for purchase is by default expired. You can call the DAP people to confirm. I was in a similar spot recently and looked into it.

Smooth on is pretty nice, never used unified but many swear by it.

LittleBen, I just got off the phone with Dap and they are still making Weldwood plastic resin glue. They discontinued resorcinol.

And resourcinol is definitely still available from the makers in the UK.
