I haven't made a kid sized tri-lam, but I'm thinking about making one for my daughter over the winter. She's 21, but very petite and her interest in archery comes and goes. She loved The Hunger Games, so I'm hoping that a Katniss type bow will get her interested in shooting some arrows with her old man
Anyway, here's my guess at a 25-30# hickory backed osage bow for her. I'm going to skip the core lam, because I don't think I'll need more than 1/2" total thickness at the fades. Backing is 1/8" that I'll just free hand taper to about 1/16" at the tips on my belt sander. Should be able to bend the 3/8" osage belly lam to get that R/D profile off the form, o/w it bends easily with dry heat.
Guessing again here, but I'd make it 1" wide for a little less than half the length of the limbs and taper to 3/8" tips. My daughter is 5' 3" tall and with her short draw, I think 60" long with an 8" handle will be okay.
Hope this is some help until somebody who has made kids' bows chimes in. I live in Neenah. Go Pack!
