Bowyer's knot for Fast Flight string
« on: December 19, 2014, 12:54:00 PM »
Here is a link to my latest blog post. I had to share this simple variation on the bowyer's knot after finding this knot on a yumi bow website and finding that it doesnt slip with fast flight string material.

Thanks for posting this; I'll be giving it a try.  I use a heavy duty B50 string now and it gets frustrating trying to get a bow to low brace as much as that stuff stretches.
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

Take five, I have a feeling you wont be going back to the B50. I have used B50 quite a bit for tillering strings and I know what you mean when you say it is frustrating.

Fujimo, it is worth the extra price in my opinion. Enjoy it.

That is interesting I just got a dvd from Pine hollow longbows watching Mike Yancey walk through the building of a sinew backed osage. At the end of the DVD he teaches how he twists up a fastflight string and he used this very knot for the lower nock on his bows. I tied up a new string using his method and i like it.
