Oh heck,  loosen up those purse strings and get the G0563 - oscillating edge sander. ;)

-That's the one I would love to have.

Is an oscillating belt sander an advantage or a disadvantage for making bows?  Or doesn't matter either way?

How well does the table hold up to staying true to square on the 512?

I wish I did not get the wrap around table.  Impossible to keep square unless you have a temp and humidity controlled shop.  I'd recommend getting the one with metal tables and making little counters for them, the way the wrap around connects to the sander is flimsy and easily goes out of square with heavy use.  I had to replace the one that came on my sander, and now I'm thinking I have to replace the one I replaced soon. Doesn't help that I use my sander table as my work station a good chunk of the time, shops too small to fit a full table, an edge sander, a bandsaw and a drumsander. or atleast too small if I still want to be able to walk in there haha.

Sometimes you have to help the machine be better.

Heavier brackets, aluminum table, ect.

The end table is nice. The wrap around is ok because of the small idler wheel.

I owned them both...regretted selling them because a guy can't  have too many sanders. I have since bought a delta oscillating sander...it's' nice, but the oscillating does nothing for me. I have it in a corner and find things to use it for...I guess I could sell it but it has an end table I like and I'm not going to sell any more sanders...maybe.

Bought a Crouch 8" x 144 and love it...big motor and large sanding surface. Modified it by replacing the idler wheel with a 2" and it is even better. Still found the need to build another with a 3/4" idler for relieving the throats of my grips. Picked up another delta off of a trade. it works great for staking things on and leaning things against. I guess I'll  break it out and convert it into something one day or just enjoy the thought that I could if I wanted to.
Edge sanders rule for building bows. Get the best you can afford or you will always wish you had. The Griz will serve you well until it doesn't.

Picked up a spindle sander on a trade. nice but don't  hardly use it much as the edge sanders I have are just so much better.

The 1140 and 1531 are the same machine on different bases.  I have a 1531 because I couldn't pass up the deal, and I'm pleased with the machine.  I mounted mine on a simple cabinet on a rolling base, which I think I like better than the floor stand on the 1140 (mobile and very stable).

In Mississippi, you probably can find heavier duty used machine if you are patient.
