Pressure hose bow form question
« on: January 07, 2015, 01:38:00 PM »
Hi!!
Please have a look at this picture. This is my first attempt on designing and building pressure hose bow form, so my question is are the riser fade ramps on this design to steep for the pressure hose clamping method?
I already have a rubber band bow form with same riser design, and it works fine, but I would like to change the rubber clamping method by pressure hose method.

I just do not know if the pressure hose can bend over the ramp when it will be under pressure.
I am mostly worried about these places, Is it going to push the belly lams toward the tips to much?

try doing a dry run without glue to see what happens. If they slip the see if you can remedy the situation.

Things get real interesting when you add smooth on to the lams.. I always pull the glass and lams down with strapping tape. First Use a clamp to hold riser in place, crookedstick uses a built in clamp system on his form, it is what I should have on my form. Like Snapper said do a dry run to make sure the hose pushes the parts down tight, if your tapers are too thick then you will not make the bend up the riser easily. KennyM showed us how he glues on a lam stop to the top of riser, I do this on all my longbow builds. It only keeps the lams from riding up the ramp.

DenisB, that's the clamp system I need to put on my longbow form. Thanks for sharing the picture.

Yes you just need a piece on the center of the riser to keep the hose from putting direct pressure on the belly lam ends. Most times if you get them where you want hem and tape them down good they should not move.
