Bingham pressure hose plugs

What is the diameter of Bingham's hose plugs? I have a brand new 50 foot 2"fire hose, but I need plugs. Whether these things are standard, or are there more sizes? I just dont get an answer from Elmont, so please help.

just a quick note- its not standard firehose- normal fire hose is designed to leak water- to keep the hoses wet- it is a proper airhose- that is cleverly disguised as a firehose   :D   - to trap us!!!

oops, just saw you are in serbia- maybe someone could get some pics and dimensions  of the plug for you- the hoses have a very thick rubber coating on the inside- should be able to find something similar over there- sure somebody will chime in!

I measured mine a few years ago, I use the hose that Bingham's sells.. Plug size was  42mm or 1.65 inch's. The plugs are slightly hour glass shaped so the middle is smaller than each end.

The hour glass shape is critical if you make them on your own.....you don't want a plug shooting out once you get 60PSI in the hose (for both you and your glued up bow's sake!)

I use fire hose without a problem, getting harder to source now though as firies over here have gone to different type of hose and I don't know if it's suitable for constant exposure to heat source.

The hose and the plugs are 1 1/2" in diameter. No, it is not fire hose and don't know if fire hose will work or not.

I have gone to using and selling the double jacketed hose as it is much tougher and I end up with a hose that will last me a very long time...in fact, I don't know that I have had to replace a double jacket hose yet and I glue up a lot of bows.
I have plugs made by a local machinist. If he wasn't in to traditional archery, they likely wouldn't' be affordable as I'm sure he's doing it because he loves to trade. I haven't found anything that works as well as the plugs.

So the ordinary fire hose will leek and wont hold the pressure over time???
Damn, these one is designed for high pressure (15bar/217 psi) so I tought it would be good for clamping.

I'm using 1-1/2" barbed hose adapters. Caulked with two hose clamps. The clamps sit quite well on the barbed end.  Two carbon steel caps, one drilled and tapped for a schraeder valve.  
No issues after 7 glue-ups.

I've been using firehose for over 3 years without a worry, but who knows if it is the same construction as you have there.

I have looked at many different ways of trying to save money using one different plug after another. When it comes down to it, you might save a couple dollars assembling items to make a suitable plug but spend that money chasing down parts and assembling them.

I have yet to find a machinist to make them for me affordably unless they were wanting to trade for something.

I'm all for using a plug that is specifically designed for bow forms, ESPECIALLY from BigJim or one of our other sponsors. This is just an example of what could work if the resources are limited

What is the recommended width of the gap between upper and lower part of the form for 1.5" pressure hose on 1.5" thick bow form?
I plan to leave 1.25" width of the gap, I hope it is not too much.

Hello,
have used firehose for only 6 sets of limbs so far, with no air leakage.
I screwed a metal car tire valve with 2 large washers into the hose. To seal the ends, I drilled 4 bars of 15mm x 20mm steel, covered the inside ends of the hose with contact cement, folded them back onto themselves and clamped them with the steel bars and 4 6mm screws, washers and nuts:

Gap in the forms shouldn't be so wide that the hose is allowed to fully expand. The rounder the hose gets, the more it will transfer the roundness to the belly of the limb...even through pressure strips.

Yes Bue, the hose I sell is the same size as the hose they sell only I offer mine as a double jacketed for extra durability.

I also understand the need in being frugal. I tried very hard to come up with a cheaper avenue when I first started. I figured out that by the time I made something work, I spend countless hours chasing parts and then assembling them only to save a couple dollars or even spend more.
