i used a steel and brass take down sleeve from 3 rivers and i used the smooth-on ea40 epoxy they recommended, but when drawing the bow the first few times there was a crackling sound coming from the sleeve, after shooting it a few times (the sound was a very hard psychological hurdle to clear) the top the glue in the steel side on the top limb has completely failed. I can wiggle the wood inside the sleeve just a little. so i gotta re-do it, just not sure why it would be doing that. it was a pretty snug fit to get the wood into the sleeve, not like "hammer required" snug... more like "umph required", so maybe its starved for glue? brass side seems to be fine. any takers?
