David Miller bow building class?
« on: January 27, 2015, 08:46:00 AM »
Has anyone attended David Miller's bow building school. I am interested in taking his class, just to build longbows for myself. My company is forcing me to retire early and they provide money for training. I can't think of a better way to spend their money.

If anyone has attended can you give me your thoughts on the class in a PM?

Thanks
Gil

I was signed up to go and had put my money down with Dave before a death in the family derailed me and I haven't been able to reschedule. In the meantime, he made me a bow with my deposit. I still hope to get the class back on my schedule though. The fact that your company would pay for it would make it a no-brainer.

I did spend quite a bit of time talking to Dave in the last couple of years as a result. I think the class would be excellent and Dave is just chock full of good information and tidbits you only get through experience. If you haven't already, give him a call. My first call ended up being an hour long and gave a very detailed overview of the class. I got the impression that he's willing to adapt the class to your needs and interests as time allows (he wants to make sure you still leave with a finished bow at the end of the week.)

Dave is a real stand up guy as well. The bow I got developed a slight issue. I sent it back to him to have him look at it and give me his thoughts. It wasn't a big deal, but he insisted on making a new bow. I tried to offer some additional money as I felt guilty having him make a second bow over such a small thing, but he wouldn't take it. Tough to find people like that these days.

Hopefully if anyone else has actually taken the class, they might be willing to post about it as appropriate in addition to sending Gil a PM. I'm sure we'd all like to hear.
