Mulberry "Little Help"

I picked up a mulberry stave while in OK. I remember reading some about mulberry but have no experence with it. Any help with designes others have tried that worked would be appreaciated.

Also have a hackberry I believe that needs to be along the lines of a white wood bow, such as in Comstocks book.

Mulberry can be made say 10-15% wider/longer than a similar osage bow.

Paul's suggestions match hackberry to a "T".

Jack, mulberry is an excellent bow wood. Just make the bow about 10% bigger than a similar osage bow.
 Although I've not made a hackberry bow I know lots of guys that have and most love it. It is a whitewood so Paul Comstock's The Bent Stick is a good reference. However, you don't need to overbuild with hackberry.
 If you do a search on PA or Google about hackberry you should get plenty of hits.

Thought I would bring this one back up. So here is my first mulberry bow. I made it slightly wider than osage and slightly longer than my osage, as suggested by Peral Drums and Pat B,  and it came out pretty nice. It has a little dip in the grain on the top limb but so far has held up. It has a little twist but I left it in and so far the limbs have nicely offset each other to keep string centered. Little more hand shock maybe because of the tiwst. But it is a shooter see goup at just over 20 yds.

Yep order a PBR with my burger a few months back and they gave me a koozie with the beer. I was thinking that would make a fine handle for a longbow, the stickers are just for fun. I am really liking the mulberry so far, will give it a good workout this weekend I am going to use it at a two day shoot.

mulberry and osage are in same family and they have similar MOR and MOE values.
this makes mulberry makes good bow wood.

Nice job. Around here we go for molson, labatt, or Utica club instead of PBR, but otherwise nice job!

Recently finished my first mulberry bow as well, and also found it to be a fine bow wood.
