New venners at Woodgallery295
« on: May 02, 2015, 02:18:00 PM »
Just added a boat load of veneers to the "New Veneers" page on my site. 99% are spliced veneers.

Here is a few that I added.

Bocote and Zebrawood

Morado and English Yew

Bocote and Zombiewood

Australian Walnut and Morado

Sweet!  Those are awesome!  I just found my new bow wood materials supplier.  Do you do requests on your spliced veneers?

D.A.,

Yes sir, I've been known to be talked into doing custom orders as long as I have the material.

Good deal!

Would you consider using a customer's material, if it was something you didn't normally keep on hand?  I've been wanting to get some verneers from South American Tulipwood.

Yes sir, if you have a wood I do not carry I'd be more than happy to talk to you about working it.

I've looked for Tulipwood and so far the only pieces I've been able to find were small and way over priced.

There are a lot of woods out there that would make great looking spliced veneers. However, when the price ends up making the veneers so expensive it would put them beyond what the average builder is willing to spend, I normally pass on buying it.

Hey Troy, what is Zombiewood?  I've never heard of it, and an Internet search doesn't bring up anything.

D.A. - I believe I saw Troy refer to it as a slang term for Ingrown Bark Oak. Someone he bought it off of the first time called it Zombiewood and he has been calling it that ever since.
