Thanks Trooper, that makes me much more
confident.  I did look the sockets over carefully
and did find some small voids in the glue joint.
I carefully added some cyanoacrylate with a
pin to fill the voids.  That's about the best
I can do to try to prevent water from sneaking
underneath.  I love the bow, looks and shootability,
and would hate to lose confidence in her for
fear that I may have a breakdown.  Thanks again
for the feedback, it's greatly appreciated!

OK, so if a guy got it in his head that he really wanted a B riser with #3 limbs, what should he be looking for in terms of a 'born on date'?  Pre '78 only, or figure that if'n it lasted since the early 80's it's probably a good one?

You know, just in case 'a guy' got it in his head  :)

Jeremy I'd look for one with no cracks around the sockets or at the arrow shelf. There's only a small percentage with cracks...But it does happen...bowdoc

Well Joel, your arrows were certainly heavy enough and not the problem.

I'm shocked at that kind of service from Bear.  I know it's not the same Bear as years ago, but I had a Super Kodiak that started coming apart after some years.  I has modified the shelf to a crown with a file so I figured I was really screwed.  I sent the bow to Bear anyway asking if it could be fixed.  After a few months I hadn't heard anything at all.  Then one day the mail truck pulls up in the driveway with a box from Bear.  I knew it was a bow.  I opened it and it was a brand new Super Kodiak.  There was no letter or explanation just the bow.  Now that was customer service!
