Guys, I lost my spec sheet, HELP!
« on: July 12, 2015, 11:41:00 PM »
After making and getting rid of several bows over the last couple of years, I want to make a bow like the first longbow I owned. I loved that bow but sold it when I started making my own. I can make a 40-50# 64" bow from memory, but I want a LONG bow, just like the one I had. I am going for 66-68" preferably 68", 40# draw weight on a mild R/D bow. Riser will be 18 inches, 1 1/4 at fades and 1/2 at tips. Nothing fancy, got a nice piece of zebra wood for the riser and going with brown glass. I had some spec sheets but can't find them for a bow this length. Any/all help with stack thickness is extremely appreciated!   :scared:

Almost forgot, I always use tapered lams. Hope that might help with stack thickness calculation.

I've been making some straight limbed longbows at that length and (from memory!) my stack for 40# would be around 0.390 with a 0.002 taper.
I will check my recipe book later today for you.

Thanks Mike. I figure it would be better to come in a little light at 68" than too heavy. I can always pike it down a little.

66" NtN .040 glass 18" riser .005 taper .360 Total stack should get you there (40# @ 28"). 68" NtN go with .375 Total Stack. These numbers work for my mild R/D form.
