Howard Hill Bobcat
« on: March 06, 2008, 01:01:00 AM »
G'day all,

I will be placing an order for a few Howard Hill longbows in the next 5-6 weeks. I am looking at buying a BearCub for my niece, a BobCat for my wife and a semi finished Owl for myself. I would rather have finished for the Owl but I am trying to keep the total under $1000 so I can avoid stamp duty back into Australia.

Anyway, I have seen pictures of both the BearCubs and the Owls but not the BobCat. So if anyone owns one and has pictures that would be appreciated. Any any reviews or comments about any of the 3 models mentioned would also be appreciated.

I will soon, finally have a Howard Hill longbow. I have been wanting one for about 25 years, and thats just too bloody long.

Quick hello to my mate scattershot, sorry mate I will write very soon, have been very busy. Hope you and family are well.

Cheers
Troy

Thanks Ben, I reckon I will. I wish there was still some pretty green glass out there but I think Craig's work is spot on and he makes beautiful bows. And these bows are still so well regarded in the US and that is saying something for a bunch of folks who are spoilt for choice in great custom bows.

Cheers mate

Give the longbowmans site a look see   Howard Hill Longbowman   Nice choice of bows, isn't there some way to have them shipped or billed separate to avoid the stamp    :readit:   Although putting the finishing touches on your Hill would be nice, so would pulling that baby out of the box ready to go. You waited 25 years already there must be away around it

Hi, Troy. Glad to hear you're getting your Hill finally. Check the link from Stone Knife above. I think Dick has a pic of a Bobcat he could send you. he seems pretty fond on his.

Best,
Gene

This is my son's BearCub (Cheetah woods). I have a Wesley Special in Ebony. And I had a Croc (I have some pictures around if you want to see it)which was a very beautiful bow IMO.

Thanks fellas,

I will ask a few of the blokes over here that order bows from the U.S. more frequently than I do and see what they think. If I pay for and invoice using separate names, yet ship together, that may work.

Yep, I would love to get the Owl ready to shoot and I may still do that. I was going to go for the Croc after seeing pictures at the HH Longbowmen site ( I joined ) and fell in love with the colours especially with the ebony riser. The main reason I picked the Owl is that I can get that beautiful colour of the osage with the Bamboo lams in the middle to help cast and smoothness. Or does anyone have an opinion of sticking completely with the osage.

I would get the bow with clear glass, but I was lamenting the demise of green glass, as I always remember the green glass as a classic longbow colour. I'm pretty sure (but could be mistaken)that a friend, now passed away, had a reverse handle Shultz longbow with green glass, and it was lovely. That was at least 20 years ago.

My neices ( they will share the Bearcub ) I'm sure will be as pleased as your children are, and my wife who enjoys her compound has shown an interest and aptitude for the longbow when she had a go of a mate of mine's light poundage Whip.

I will check with Dick about Photo's of the Bobcat. More out of curiousity as I have no doubt of the quality Craig uts in. I can see that the Bearcubs are proper longbows in everyway just smaller. Any bow or girl would be stoked to own one. BobCo's photo says it all very nicely.

Cheers
Troy
