Grozer Bows - Ill just leave this right here.
« on: March 14, 2016, 04:56:00 PM »

Ran across this, thought others might like to see. I don't know what to think, I'm curious as to what others make of this.

I'm interested in feed back on this too, doesn't seem to be a real thing to me. If it is I'd like to talk to the builders.
As I'm writing this I realize they probably are measuring in some weird metric speed and not our FPS.

That's probably a good point I have never played with super light shafts, my bamboo shafts have 3.5 inch duplex nails for heads...

I prob shoulda watched closer but saw some 350 -375 grain arrows and some 65 -75 # bows.

Unless you have a shooting machine, a calibrated chrono and somebody like Blacky doing the test, it's all just stuff.

I think the kinda standard for trad bow tests is around 50# bow with a 9 gpp arrow drawn to 28"

For me, its all about quiet and easy shooter.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

The 400 meter shot was interesting.

Last time I hunted in the wide open spaces, my 44# 68" ASL cast a 620 grain arrow 180 yards.

Wonder what Mike Roberts thoughts will be on this.

Plus they're drawing over 30"+ and less than 5 gr per pound

Listed as "Hunter Recurve"   360 grain arrows are not hunting weight arrows. Still, that's the way compounds are measured, and if the figures are legitimate then that is very impressive even though they are not being shot out of a machine.
Wonder how many shots you could expect before the bow comes apart?
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

I watched James Parker shoot one of his boo backed horn belly bows(50#) through a chrono with a similar carbon arrow and got 265fps. With a 500gr cane hunting arrow it shot 190fps

If I understand correctly these bows are made of biopolymer?  I listened to some of the biopolymer manufacturer propaganda taking about using spider silk, horn, chemically treated beef blood and other materials to create the biopolymer.  I was just kicking around and did a random search for fastest recurve and found this.

Umm.....as Kenny says it's all just numbers IF you don't record arrow weight, bow weight and drawlength. 5 - 6 gpp and as long a drawlength as you can muster is a good way to boost your sales figures.... :)
The majority of people will just see the numbers and that's what this video is counting on.
400m - I doubt it very, very much. A 400m shot is not at all bad and would warrant the above data (arrow weight/bow weight/drawlength)to make it believable. The arrow appeared to be a plain non barrelled carbon shaft and that is what makes this smell a wee bit fishy.
I've just started to make some forms for glass Turkish bows, once I get them done i'll make a sales video like this one! Haha!

I'm not a shill for the company, I agree what you see on the video is what you see, there are a lot of details left out.  More than anything the biopolymer aspect of this intrigues me.

The guy in the video!!!
No silencers either! Any self respecting deer would still "jump the string"!!
I'll take smooth and quiet over fast any day !!
I also like how they used a wood arrow and finger release on a short draw 45 lb compound! Not really compairing apple to apples! But, that is pretty fast!!

I think the Japanese do with their traditional bows (the correct name of which I've no idea)

Based on the comments I went back and reviewed the video.  Towards the end they shoot a 45# assyrian grozer with what looks like the same arrow at 372g that would be 8.2gpp shooting 228fps.  I want to see that experimental hunter at 8+gpp.
