All wood?   Wood & glass?  A simple flatbow/pyramid style would be simple and easy either all wood/plank or veneer and glass.

I've made adult sized bendy-handle flatbows using a 2x2 and elastic for a form.  Single veneer of wood between two layers of glass.

someone was doing a nice little r/d on here Cody- using 2" glass- and then splitting it down the middle and getting two bows.
one to use - and one to lose! i guess   :D

Just make a pyramid. No thickness taper needed. Automatic tiller.

I cut 2" glass into two 1" strips and build a 46" longbow, I get one and a half bows from each strip of glass.  I use a 12" riser and a stack of around .230 and get about 20# at 20".  Mine have some deflex and reflex in them but, you could build them straight.  Kind of a mini Hill style if it would be easier.

I have made a bunch of kid's bows for friends and always made bamboo backed osage bows for the safety factor of bamboo over wood alone. This way I know the bow won't blow up.
