Cherry branch character bow
« on: October 24, 2016, 03:16:00 AM »
Hey, fellow Bowyers,

I wanted to show you my latest piece of work - a cherry branch self bow. It is 150cm in length (nock to nock) and pulls 35lb @28". It had a few branches and a split, the branches fell out leaving holes. Both these features make it a character bow in my view. The bow is stained brown on back, scorched on the belly, tips stained black. Finished with linseed oil and beeswax.

Pictures of unbraced, braced and full draw:

The following images is my sincere attempt to make pretty pictures with bows and arrows:

Nice.  Really nice work.  And very artistic photos as well.  Interesting to see a full-draw picture that isn't aiming straight out or skyward.

Very nice bow and arrows. Good to see folks using non-typical wood for bows and you did a nice job of it.

That's excellent.  Nice work
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.
