Reducing Limb Length
« on: October 25, 2016, 05:22:00 PM »
I have a 69" Groves Spitfire that has one tip broken off at the string grove. What would happen if I cut both limb tips off and made new limb tips with overlays - so I end up with a 66" bow. Has anybody experimented with that? How would it effect the speed, weight, etc.? Thanks for your help.

The grooves I had were quite flexable through the limbs and tips.

I would expect about 5 pounds increase.
As long as the new overlays and string grooves were even then it should shoot well.

Doesn't sound like you can hurt it at this point so it's worth a try. I have done it...
