I just read on PA that Dean Torges passed away on Nov. 4. If this is the case it is another sad day for traditional and wood bow archery, and the bow hunting world.

Yes, his death saddens me.
I met hum at 2003 Mojam and meeting him was memorable.

Never met Dean, but read all his stuff I got hold of. He seemed to be very thoughtful. Will be missed.

Dean was a friend, mentor, and inspiration. He was a meticulous craftsman and raised the bar for me, showed me what was possible right off the get-go when I began making selfbows. He was a great help and answered all of my emails, calls, and questions at gatherings, but somehow never spoon fed me. He gave me room to fail and better myself, myself. He will influence every bow I ever make. I miss him. Condolences to his family.

Sad to hear this.  Hunting the Osage Bow is a classic.  His books and videos influenced a lot of bowyers.

Sad news for sure. Dean and Bowjunkie were and always will be the the light at the end of that tunnel of wooden bow making I am trying to make it through. Dean passed his knowledge onto Bowjunkie and Bowjunkie has been passing it along to me.

Dean answered many of my questions via emails. I believe a few times, he chuckled at my stupidity. Then we both agreed that we both stumbled a few times along our bow making journey. And we would laugh.

RIP, Dean. You wil be forever a guidance in my bow shop.

The only thing that lives on is the knowledge passed on, so he's still around, kinda.
