Have any of you ever hunted Caribou with Andre Threlfal with Twin River Lodge in Quebec???
The greatest words a man can hear are, "Will you take me with you Daddy"????

Rick,

Several years ago I hunted caribou at Twin River Camp with eleven other traditional bow hunters. With that many hunters in one camp and only two helpers with two boats to ferry us up and down the river to drop off points the camp was greatly understaffed. Things got worse a couple days into the hunt when Andre had a wealthy rifle hunter flown into camp that took one of the camp helpers as his own personal guide along with one of the boats. With one boat and one helper it seems like we spent as much time waiting for a boat ride as we did hunting at times. That lasted another day or two until they could fly another helper in along with his wife to help with the cooking. They also brought an airplane and pilot in to fly the wealthy hunter and his guide around which freed up the boat for us to use.

Had we been over run with caribou I'm sure we could have overlooked the situation with the shortage of staff but we weren't. I was one of the lucky ones that actually got a shot at a caribou and managed to take one of the three that were shot by our group. I beleive that some in our camp never even saw a caribou.

I have heard of others having much better trips than ours. Sorry, but I can't say I would recommend going to Twin River Lodge with Andre Threlfal after our experience.

I have been with them twice and was more than satisfied both trips. Check the members video section under Bolin and Hamenstaffer or just Hamenstaffer for videos and a photo collage(sp). Mike
