2nd Annual Michigan Bow Camp

Ok guys I know this is pretty early but I wanted to get the date out there for the second annual Michigander Bowcamp so people can start planning thier vacation time.
The date is October 4th - 12th, hopefully having it a full week well give more people a chance to make one of the two weekend dates. Jennifer and I will be there for the entire 9 days.
We will be at the same place as last year last year, the Atlanta State Game area. The area was beautiful and we seen several deer as well as elk which was an added bonus.
There will be a limited number of doe tags for this area so make sure you apply early. All deer taken in this area should be checked in at the DNR station in Atlanta.
I will keep you posted with more updates as the time gets closer. I just wanted to get the date and place out there so peple could start making plans.

Very nice area, I have bowhunted there back in the early 80's. The elk are still rutting too. I might have to stop in for a hello. Mark

That would be great Mark! Last year I made a ground blind off a well used buck trail as there was rubs and scrapes all along this trail. I was stiiting there when I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand straight up. I turned and looked and there standing right be hind me was the bulk elk. I never even heard him come in, man was that awesome. Just happened to have a camera in my back pack and snaped a picture before he disappeared, it's not a good shoot but you can see him.

Looks like I may be able to join in this year, (at least for a few days)during the week. I've got a buddy that's just getting started in Trad Archery, we were talking last night and I told him about this hunt. He's fired up to give it a go. One of my all time favorite hunts was up to the Pigeon River State Forest back in the mid 90's. Spent a few days camping and hunting, and saw lots of Elk. Always wanted to go back.

Yeah it sure is beautiful area, plus the neat thing is because of the TB threat a couple years ago it has not been hunted hard and there are deer all over.

Those were some nice bucks sitting up near the road last year!
I nearly forgot during the scouting trip when we stopped for ice cream, watching that guy flip over his handlebars on his 4 wheeler! I can laugh about it now cause he was alright.

That was a good trip wasn't it. You missed the big bucks, Hormon find the honey hole the last day and got video of about 10 different bucks in the same clear cut and there where two identical 10 points and one 8 point that all would of been close to Pope & Young :p

Man I knew there were some good ones around there, especially in that tangled mess we trommped through trying to find the road.
