Weight comparison
« on: March 18, 2008, 01:34:00 PM »
Looking at the surewood shafts, and was just wondering about a weight comparison.I prefer not to shoot POC because they seem too light for me.I like Birch.Where does the weight of Douglas Fir fall in comparing the other 2 woods mentioned??

In the middle.  Any of these woods individually can vary by more than 50 grains within one spine group so it's possible, for example, that the heaviest cedars may get close in weight to the lightest birch, certainly the lightest Doug firs.
Doug fir is also in the middle of the two in terms of durability, IMO.  It's pretty tough stuff, but not quite as tough or as heavy, in general, as birch.
