Howdy Gang!  :wavey:

I rolled down to South Carolina nearly two years from the wild stretches of Northern Michigan.  Up there I hunted deer and other critters in the flats and ridges of vast hardwoods in the Michigan National forests.

Up there we rarely ran into too much water....mebbee a couple inches in a low area but that was the extent of my wading.  Now however, I am committed to the southern way of havin' fun which seems to be chasing hogs in bottoms / low areas associated with rivers and swamps.

Initially I need some help choosing a good boot for the occasion...don't want any Walmart specials but what y'all have found to be durable, comfortable and not outrageously expensive.

Thanks in advance!

Here's an interesting twist Tony my friend Matt Schuster who's been a lifelong member of the paradise in south Georgia which has a train very similar to the South Carolina swamps and he wears tennis shoes I'm not kidding he wears tennis shoes he said what the heck you're going to get wet anyway might as well be comfortable and Tennis Shoes so who knows I prefer boots myself but it ain't that big a deal man whatever you don't mind getting wet cuz you probably going to get your boots wet anyway if you're going to get much water

Sneakers!  Actually, to me it makes good sense.  I don't mind "wet" one bit...its shivering cold I can't take any more.  Wet in Michigan (in the fall - late season) is miserable but I am thinkin' down here it could be rather comfortable.

What are average temps during the time we we'll be at Wild Things?  I need to pick up some lightweight breathable outer layer....and prolly some bug resistance..

May will be mosquito degree.... if we're lucky we'll get a little nippy at night other than that it should be very good temperature in the 70s.

In other words if you have a thermacell you need to bring it I'd worry more about a thermacell than I would boots

I can't wait either. And once you get down here and you can see what's going on it may give you an idea of what kind of Footwear you want to buy you know you'll have a better understanding of what's going on and can make a more educated decision
