VHT Sanding

I know that some of you guys have used VHT rattle can...  It says on the can to wait 7 days to cure...  After my initial first three coats do I have to wait 7 days to sand and recoat??  Also...  How long do you wait to use and or flex your bow??  So I guess I am asking; What is your whole procedure with the stuff??

   Also has anyone used a water based polyurethane??  How did it work for you??  In the past I have had great results with oil based poly but I did not like the yellowing...  Does water based ploy yellow at all??

I've never used the rattle can VHT, so I can't speak to that.  I have tried the Crystalac water based poly that's sold by Woodcraft.  I got the exterior rated stuff.

As a bow finish, it works.  It can be sprayed with a regular automotive type HVLP spray gun.  Here in dry Colorado, it sets up almost instantly.  Allowing two hours between coats (as per the manufacturer's instructions), you can get 4-5 coats on in a day.  Easy soap and water clean up.  Allow 7-10 days to fully cure. Very low odor almost no fumes.  I haven't noticed any yellowing on maple yet, it's been 4-5 months.

But...

I haven't found it to be as durable as the automotive urethane I normally use.  I don't think the water borne technology is quite there yet.  I love the stuff for dipping arrows though!  Once it's fully cured, very few issues with target burn.
