Does anyone still make ...
« on: March 19, 2008, 11:59:00 AM »
Does anyone still make an adult size solid fiberglass longbow? There's no better bow for bowfishing in the salt water. You can use it, abuse it, toss it in the bottom of the boat, and you never have to worry about getting salt water all over it when wading for sting rays.

I had a green-glass Paul Bunyan I used for years. It was 60# draw, and with a plastic ambidextrous grip. As close to perfect for such use as any bow I've ever found. Wouldn't mind having one again, but need one about that draw weight. Just wondering if there were still any made, anywhere.

I don't think they make them any more.

I have seen them on **** from time to time, however I haven't noticed any lately.  You are correct, I perfer the old Indian Archery takedown recurve,  it had a solid plastic riser, that had steel inside to maintain it's shape, and solid fiberglass limbs.

Scott, that looks like the best hope, except that I'm not often around civilization where I could check. Been trying to watch lately, but nothing suitable has shown up.

It's a shame someone doesn't bring them back, just for bowfishing. I located an all figerglass horse-bow, but I can't shoot bows that short worth a ****.

Lancaster archery sells a fiberglass indian titan bow thats 60 inches long and around 30lbs, though not sure what draw length that is.  I am sure that would work unless you really want more weight.

PSE makes the Kingfisher recurve, not a long bow, but along the lines of what you are talking about.
