Some woods will take cactus juice better than others. I have found maple takes it well.walnut you have to soak for sevseral days. Ideal sistuation is the wood does not float after treatment. Never tried persimon . Here is a shot of an ibeam. You can center them or offset to the sight window side. My wood ones are .375. bloodwood osage diamondwood actionwood are a few that are plenty strong.
