Another Carbon Arrow Question(sorry)
« on: March 20, 2008, 11:22:00 AM »
Sorry in advance, I know you guys get worn out with these.  I've read a bunch old threads on this subject, and I'm gonna try them for the first time.  They will be for a Kohannah Fury 58' 56@28.  From reading the past threads I'm leaning towards CE Heritage 150's with 175-200 up front. 28.75 is as short as I can cut em.  If anyone sees a problem or has any other suggestions for trying carbon's the first time they will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Austin

Are you bareshaft testing first? I would start long (at least 2 inches past your draw), with the intended weight, then cut 1/4" until good flight.  There are lots of good info on bareshafting and much more detailed than this.

...but you have a good shaft that should work out.

Blackhawk is right.  I have had some GT 35/55's for awhile now and am going to try some CE 150's soon.  Some say their consistency in spine is better.  Definitely start long and cut slowly as you can't put the length back on.

I'm planning on using the bare shaft planing method to tune.

What is your draw length? I assume close to 28 because of your min. arrow length.

Is that bow cut to center or beyond?

Are you shooting FF string?

You could probably shoot the 250's long and the 150's shorter.

If you want it short, do not forget there is now a Heritage 90. There are also now brass inserts available on Sponsor's classifieds. If you like the shorter shaft, it might be best.
