Hex Shafts?
« on: January 25, 2017, 11:15:00 PM »
I was wondering if anyone ever began making Hex Shafts again?

I am down to my last six arrows and would really like to replenish my stock...
Less anger, more troubleshooting...

Not to my knowledge. Whispering winds arrows bought all the remaining stock. He has shafts and arrows.

Yes, get in touch with Bob at Wispering Winds Arrows. He has mentioned his stock is going down on certain spines.

Yes Wayne is still in the process  of converting the machines to his standards  I talk to him quite often.    From what I understand its because trueshaft only sells shafts  34".   They will also  be made from BC sitka spruce  from what I undestand.   Which is already extremely strong stuff.

Yup, True Shaft Archery acquired all the original machinery and business, and are producing them again.
the original shafts were only 31.5" long- due to the fact that they were originally using mill run 2x4's and  8' long, bucked into 3 pieces, so that gave them a wee bit less than 32" a  piece,
however, True Shaft builds their arrows 34" long , so all the machinery had to be modified and updated.
Its a very complex process, with multiple stages, so quite an undertaking.

The older shafts were also laminated with a non- waterproof white wood glue.
Now, the new shafts will be laminated with waterproof Tite Bond 3 wood glue.

They should be in full production by mid summer.

Thanks for the info!  I really like spruce so if reasonably priced these shafts should be a winner.  I look forward to trying them.
