AD Traditional Heavy Question

So I have a question.  I have some AD Trad Heavies from 10 or so years ago that are the black ones.  I bare shafted them and the 29.5" bare shaft with a 100gr point is showing just a shade weak with my 46# Max 4 limbs which is perfect I would say.  The problem is that I only have a few left, so I bought some Trad Heavies on here that are 30.5" long but have the wood grain finish.  I figured with the way the old ones flew no problems with the half inch longer shaft.  Here is the problem.  I start to bare shaft the ones I just bought and I am up to 175 gr point and am still showing stiff.  Does the wood grain finish really make them that much stiffer?  I really don't want to get any heavier up front because I want a finished arrow weight of around 530gr.  Just seems odd that the wood grain shaft shows so much stiffer.

 Don't bother bare shafting them. (it took 10 years to believe this). You could actually be getting opposite readings. My current set up is a full length AT trad heavy wood grain with a 175 gr head and factory insert. The are working very well but would indeed show stiff if I bare shaft them.
I read a post by one of the gurus, maybe Rick Barbee or one of those guys. Who did a slow motion test on them and figured out they were recovering from paradox so quickly that they snapped themselves the opposite that he was getting reverse bare shaft reading.
 Broadhead tune them to hit the same as your target points. You may need to do the opposite of what you know about tuning. Example - decrease weight when they show stiff with broad heads. Sounds all wrong but don't fight it, try it!
 Also the modern AD trads are stiffer than those real old black ones. The original AD trad heavies were perfect spined for almost any hunting weight bow. Now they are little stiffer, mostly they do still work great and are my only carbon arrow but those softer ones were awesome. Once you get the point weight right they will tolerate a lot of variables and still fly perfect and hit the mark.
 Mine are working great. I always use the wood grain because I like to see the arrow in my sight picture. In low light you can't see the black ones.
  I like my AD trads and wood arrows to be interchangeable.  And they are except the carbon is a little longer than the wood.  So I played around with a shorter AD trad lite today. Those work too!

I agree with Terry and Rob. I use the AD Trads out of all my bows, 55#-62# and they are perfect. You however may have to use the Trad Lites out of a 46# bow. But listen to Rob and Terry they know what they are talking about.

Terry... Weird thing is that my older trad heavies (black ones) bare shaft perfectly and I figured with these being an inch longer it should be similar.  I guess I will sell them or see if anyone wants to trade for some of the Lites....

 yes sir if you can't get one to work you need to do something with them those Heavies are stiff I don't have a bow that light mine are all Heavy I don't think you could ever shoot one of those out of that light of a bow the trad lights would be much easier to tune out of that bow I am sure best of luck to you sir

They heavies are pretty much indestructible. I have chopped a few off from crossed incoming arrows and maybe a rare Robin Hood or two. Otherwise they never break. This one has been re-cap dipped and re-lfetched at least 3 times.
