Bear Display Bow

Just bought a Bear Bearcat and it is stamped display. Seems like a great shooter. Why was it marked display? Looks like maple riser with brown glass. Feels heavier than the 40# it is marked. Any info would be appreciated.

Often a Display bow will have 3 small holes in the sight window where arrows were once attached for display with the bow. And sometimes a bow will be marked display and not have the holes.
There are a few of both types around but not many. Maybe bd can tell us more?

I've never found anything wrong with any display bow.They normaly were just a regular plain old stock bow.They were marked display to kind of keep the dealers from selling them.But some 35-40 years later now there shooter collecters bd

I have collected several of the Display models without finding a serious flaw in a single bow.
The folks at Bear told me many years ago that these bows were provided to shops that kept a volume inventory of specific Bear models.  The intent was to have one bow to brace or handle rather than taking new inventory off the shelf risking damage.
The display bows were selected for that purpose so often the display bow would be a very nice example rather than something inferior as is the case with display models in general.
They were sometimes fitted with "options" and on some occasions arrows were glued in place but these bows were sent with a "working" display bow that could be handled or braced by a potential buyer. Display bows are a rare find. !

 I have a Kodiak Magnum that had three arrows nailed to the riser and is stamped DISPLAY , I have shot it for two years ,all is well.
