3pc Blacktail Columbian Envy got me
«

Well... I couldn't take it one minute longer. I laid the money down and the wait will be unbearable but necessary to figure out what in the heck woods to use. 60" 55ish@26 takedown. I can't get over the look of the T2's but the price is a bit steeper.
I haven't felt the need to get a new bow in a couple years having 2 Schafer 1pc recurves and a Thunderchild hanging on the wall... But.... The lines on this bow give me the tingles.

The wait is what makes it fun

I cruse the website looking at bows that might fit what I'm looking for.....sure would be an expensive impulse buy...but I wouldn't have to wait.....and it saves me money when a "nice" on gets away....

Well, I've learned what I "like" and "don't like" over the last 8 or so years of swapping bows. I know I go thru longbow phases and recurve phases but most always prefer a longbow. I will not get rid of my one Schafer recurve, that is for certain. My Thunderchild isn't going anywhere either. In fact she is visiting Big Jim right now for a bit of a weight reduction. She's awfully stout and my elbows are screaming at me. I think my macho ran out and sensible is taking over. Ouch that hurts the ego.
I want a pretty high brace height, shorter 56-60 length and a pretty deep shelf that will hold an arrow while hanging for bowhunting. I had a long talk with Alan at Blacktail (he's great to talk to) about the grip because I tend to like a thinner throat. I've only ever ordered 2 bows in the past. A Widow and a Centaur. Both are gone. Hopefully this one is right. There just isn't any out there to try used

Congrats! 😎 I’m chomping at the bit too. Got my specs and wood figured out, but I need to have a long conversation about the trip. My newest Elite VL needs to go in for a grip reduction soon.
Let us know what woods you choose! Luckily the woods I want keep me out of T2 pricing.

Well for starters, if a bow is worth building it’s worth having cocobolo in it! I’m thinking of footing a cocobolo riser with macassar ebony, and then red cedar limbs. Don’t know if I want footed limbs, if so reverse footed with the ebony. Pics of Blacktail cedar limbs are not real common, but the ones I’ve seen are drop dead gorgeous.

I am currently shooting this bow and love it. It's a Columbian longbow, one piece. I also have a take down on order...

Enjoy the wait and try not to drive yourself nuts looking at the web site pictures. I have both the one piece, and in 2017 ordered and got the takedown Columbia. I tried really hard not to pester them and ran through pictures over and over again to try to decide on my woods. I finally ended up with a B&W ebony bow with Gabon ebony riser and it is gorgeous. They are very attentive to your emails and it came in within a few weeks of the initially estimated date.

The wait time now is nearly trivial. I waited nearly 14 months for my first one!

Some of the Cocobola used today (Red?) does not have the same mass that some of us might be used to in the past. Best to clarify in advance.......
